The bag is called 2.55 because it have been released from since February 1955 by Coco Chanel. Obviously the bag have a very rich history and have gone through many changes. Still upon today, it’s the ‘IT’ bag, the Chanel ‘Classics’ and ‘Timeless’. In February 2005, Karl Lagerfeld re-made the 2.55 as Coco Chanel had made in 1955. The name Reissue is used to commemorate the original design of the bag.
The 226 is the large size of the 2.55 reissue and is comparable to the jumbo, but a bit lighter in weight.

Is lamb skin material easily torn? Will the material wear n tear easily?
Hi Rachael, lambskin feels soft and luxurious and can easily get scratched, Caviar are strong material, durable but they are heavier. The reissue 2.55 are also in distressed aged calf leather, which are also durable.
For this bag in the pic above, is the material in caviar or lambskin?
Its the lambskin
