Does the length of your Chanel bag chain strap bother you? It’s quite a hassle for me. Five days ago, I purchased a bag from the local Chanel boutique. I was going to an exhibition in New York yesterday, and I wanted to show off my new bag. However, I ran into problems when I couldn’t shorten the straps of my bag. I stand at 5’4” and the chain strap is 23” long. It makes the bag fall down my legs.
I must admit it is a Chanel Maxi, which looks extremely unpleasant hanging down to my lower thigh. It looks like a high end messenger bag. That is not the look I was going for. I scoured the web until I found a solution for my dilemma. I found some tips that helped me a lot, and eventually I successfully shortened the straps.
Tip #1: Choose the length you want the chain straps to be, and tie a ribbon around the loop. Be sure to tie the ribbon on the inner side of the chain straps (tie it so it faces you).
Tip #2: Loop the chain strap and double it. Please note some Chanel chain straps are detachable at the point of the closure.
Tip #3: Simply take the bag to your local shoe/bag repair shop. The craftsperson should be able to shorten your chain straps with no problem. This procedure should be quite inexpensive.
I hope these little bit of tips help you out. If you have any more suggestions don’t hesitate to share with the rest of us.
