Can A Broken Chanel Bag Be Repaired?

This post is dedicated to all those many Chanel lovers that have questions about refurbishment.

For starters, the estimated repair time is four to six weeks. Chanel sends the bag to the repair manufacturer, and once the repairs are done, the bag is shipped back to Chanel. When sending your bag off to get repaired, you don’t have to worry about providing your box or authenticity card—just the bag is all you need.

If your bag just so happens to be fake, the manufacturer will return it unrepaired. Authenticity is proven once the bag arrives at the repair manufacturer. The price to have your bag repaired is $265, but if the bag only has small damages then the price is lower.

What Can be Fixed on Chanel Bags?
Well, almost everything on a Chanel bag can be fixed. It varies from each model. For example, the jumbo bag chains, the ‘CC’ logos, and buckles can all be repaired or even changed. If you want silver hardware instead of gold, the repair manufacturer can do that for you. However, you must be mindful that new hardware doesn’t necessarily make your bag look as good as new.

What Can’t be Fixed on Chanel Bags?
The leather is probably the most difficult thing to repair on a Chanel bag. Scratches from wear and tear over time cannot go away. Once your leather is damaged, then it’s damaged for good. There is some minor work that can be done, but your leather surface will never look like new again.

Another thing that can’t be completely repaired on a Chanel bag is the lining. There is no actual service that Chanel provides for this. However, if you’re willing to take a risk, you could always go to your local cobbler or leather smith. Personally, I’m not too fond of using outside services for my Chanel bags.

I fear that they might hurt my bag rather than help it. I’d rather pay Chanel a little extra to have the security that my bag is in the right hands.

  1. Hi!

I went to the Chanel store to get the CC logo and turn-lock on my Classic Flap repaired. They said they could do it but must charge me 150$ for it because they consider it to be normal wear and tear. Is this normal? I bought the bag at the Chanel boutique only a year and a half ago and have only worn it about 7-8 times. I baby this bag so much, and I just don’t understand how a bag of that price can scratch when I treat it so well and wear it so little. Should this not be a free service after I paid so much money for it? Thank you so very much for help.

  2. Hi, I recently purchased a Lambskin Classic 2.55 Medium Double Flap shoulder bag through Tradesy. It was lovely but the second time I opened the flap the first time I used it, the logo started coming off as both golf screws that hold it together were missing. The photos on the website showed a photo of the emblem with the screws. When I returned it to Tradesy they told me that it showed signs of wear and tear! The bag came to me in that condition. They will not respond any further and have “closed the file”. In addition, they did not return the trademark card. I’m as a loss as to what to do. Can I order screws somewhere? It sounds like the Chanel boutique wouldn’t take it for repair. In addition, the flannel bag that came with the purchase was very old did not properly fit this bag, it looked like it was for a large wallet or mini bag. I would not use Tradesy again.
